The Animal Control Officer (ACO) is responsible for responding to loose and dangerous dogs, as well as requests for help with some other animals and animals in distress. Not all animal incidents can be handled by the ACO. Information for wildlife rescue/rehabilitation organizations will be provided for situations not handled by the ACO. Please call the Police Department at (845) 457-921 to request the ACO.

If you believe your dog or cat got loose, please contact us at (845) 457-9211.  Any adoption inquiries must be routed through the main municipal animal shelter.  There is a mandatory 7-day holding period before any unclaimed animal will be released to the shelter for adoption.  If you are interested in adopting an animal, please check the local animal shelter.
